Feel at Home at Capsule Hotel- Old Batavia in Jakarta, Indonesia
Capsule Hotel is exactly the type of place you need while staying in Jakarta, Indonesia. Although Jakarta is a wonderful city full of delicious food and good-natured people, it is also a city full of bland buildings and many large businesses. Being in a large city can make you feel a bit lost and lonely, however, Capsule Hotel is the small gem that helps you escape the busy city life.
When you first walk in and speak to the staff, they instantly make you feel like you have been friends for years. Their constant smiles and enjoyable conversations make you immediately feel like you belong. Once you walk up to one of the 5 floors, you feel as if you are staying in someone’s house. There are comfortable couches on every floor, old dutch posters, and even ironing boards! When you walk all the way up to the 5th floor, there is a ‘living room’ for guests to hang out, watch TV, and eat. The cozy couches and wallpaper that line the room create a vibe that makes you want to hang out with new friends as if you are in your own home.
The rooms themselves are unique as well. Each bed is a capsule bed that seems to create a tiny ‘room.’ Its gives you the personal space you need to sleep or read while still being able to mingle with your friends. Each comfortable bed is accompanied with two pillows, a large duvet, many plugs to charge electronics, a small table, and different color lights to create a relaxed atmosphere.
Just as amazing as the rooms are the bathrooms. Although communal, they are huge with many clean shower and toilet stalls, multiple hair dryers, a rack to dry clothes, and large mirrors. These bathrooms truly have everything you need to get ready for a day of exploring or to relax at the hostel and sleep. Staying at this hostel was truly a great experience and is definitely a must-stay while traveling to Jakarta. It gave me the relaxing environment I needed after a tiring day and I will definitely be staying here again when I return to, Jakarta.
