Where to stay in Figueira da Foz
Figueira da Foz is a cute little beach town on the Portuguese coast not far from Coimbra.
Well known for it’s many beaches and the Casino, this is one of our favorite destinations when it comes to relaxing and having good fish and seafood.
Just north of Figueira da Foz you can visit Serra da Boa Viagem, an inviting range of pine-cloaked hills with scenic viewpoints, walking trails and a woodland adventure park.
During a trip to the region we decided to take a few days to explore Figueira and stayed at Malibu Foz Hotel, turning our getaway into the perfect balance of a modern style and relaxing beach living
Location
In the middle of the beautiful and famous beach town of Figueira da Foz, you can find Malibu Foz Hotel. A lovely four star hotel that provides a balance between sea and mountain. It’s less than 10 minutes walking to the beach area turning it into a the perfect option if you are looking for a quiet and replaxing place to stay that is still walking distance to the town center and the beach.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 5 pm, where we were received by a lovely and smiling staff member. They brought us to our room, where we had a plate with the famous Portugal pastry (Pastel de nata) and a refreshing fruit waiting for us. A small touch that was the perfect combination to watch the sunset.
Our Room
We stayed at a two-bedroom room with pool view. A spacious and bright room in light tones with everything we need to enjoy those days in that cozy hotel: coffee, tea, chocolates, drinks and some snacks. The outside area was beautifully decorated with distinct areas promising delightful moments of sharing and conviviality.
Breakfast
Who doesn’t like a late breakfast? At Malibu Foz, the morning meal is served until 10.30 am. Perfect time for those who want to spend a few more minutes relaxing in bed.
The breakfast room is extremely well decorated and with a variety of sweet and savory foods that delights any guest. There is also the possibility to order some hot foods that are made on the spot.
Restaurant
Right next to the hotel and with a wonderful view of the pool, we find Mensa, a classy Italian restaurant. Besides having pizzas with very refined flavors, the restaurant offers dishes for all tastes. Our highlights were the brie cheese focaccia, honey and nuts; lobster caviar, smoked San Daniele and Parmesan cheese; Mango panna cotta with mango ice cream.
The staff is kind and attentive to detail and always with a smile on their face. We had dinner both nights at Mensa and we would highly recommend a visit to this adorable place if you are staying in town.
Veredict
Our trip to Figueira da Foz was lovely, we sent our days exploring the area and strolling by the beach and enjoying some delicious meals at Mensa. Sadly the weather wasn’t great so we could jump on the pool but hopefully on our next trip to town we will be able to enjoy even more our stay at Malibu.
The hotel has great facilities and has all the amenities you could ask for. It was great to enjoy a drink at the Bar and enjoy the views by the pool after exploring the region.
